Teefy Leads Bulldogs to 5-1 Win Over Dighton Rehoboth

Matt Teefy, lead ORR with two goals.

What a difference a few days make.  Matt Teefy scored in each half to lead the ORR Bulldogs to an opening day victory over a very strong Dighton Rehoboth squad.  Things looked bleak and the team was in the dumps after dropping the season opener to Seekonk on Friday.  Today, a different team took to the field.  ORR played fast, smart and pressured D/R into turn over after turnover.

Early pressure by Colby Stabell created  a scramble in front of the D/R net and Jr transfer from Fairhaven, Nick Coelho, stuffed home ORR's first goal 1:45 into the match.   At the 8 minute mark, ORR earned a free kick from 20 yds. when Coelho was taken down on a break away. Nate Houston picked his spot and calmly bent his shot into the upper 90 for a 2-0 lead.

In the 25th minute,  a lack of pressure on the ball allowed D/R to string together three passes that freed up their #10 for a cracker of a goal from 35 yds.  Placed perfectly and hit with power, keeper Matt Beatty could only watch the ball sail into the back of the net.  Five minutes before the intermission, Matt Teefy scored his first on a perfectly placed strike that mirrored team-mate Houston's earlier goal, into the opposite upper 90.

The second half saw a bit of scrappy play from both team resulting in a yellow card warning to ORR forward  Alden Truesdale.   Thirty minutes into the second half, ORR was awarded a corner kick and Nate Houston sent a driving ball across the box of D/R.   Matt Teefy skied head and shoulders above the defense and headed home his second goal and the clincher for the Bulldogs.    Jon Zucco finished the scoring out hustling everyone to knock in a rebound that barely eked over the goal line.

The players are adjusting to the new system of play and are working hard to improve their game little by little.
The defensive back four of Noah Filloramo, Brenden Gaspar, Chris Hiralall and Marc Gammel held Dighton Rehoboth to 7 shots at goal and giving keeper Matt Beatty and easy three routine saves, day in the net.

ORR depth showed when subs Ted Kasabian, Robbie Magee, Max Houck and Teddy Costa and Evan Lacombe entered the match and kept the quality and pace of play high keeping D/R on their heels.

Matt Beatty had an easy time this day.
