ORR Loses to Nantucket in Penalty Shootout.

The Reds left everything on the field trying to end this in regulation. The chances were there and taken but Nantucket's keeper came up big to keep the Whalers in the game. Nick Coelho opened the scoring in the 24th minute when he took a pass from Matt Teefy and used his speed to beat the Whaler defense and let loose a blast that rocked the back of the net before keeper Brown had a chance to react.

In the 3rd minute of the second half, Whaler forward Chavez was left unmarked in the area and headed home the equalizer on a perfectly placed corner kick. The teams battled for the next thirty seven minutes trying to gain an advantage but neither team cracked. Brown for Nantucket came up big three times, stopping Coelho twice and Jon Zucco on 1v1 breakaways. ORR's Matt Beatty was equal to his peer when Nanatucket's forward Fee let loose a cracker that was destined for the back of the net. Beatty dove to his right and just got enough of a touch on the ball to parry it off the post and out of danger.

Following regulation the teams again played to a stalemate for two 10 minute overtimes.  ORR had the better of the chances, but couldn't put this one away.

In the shootout, ORR missed their first two chances before Jon Zucco beat Brown cleanly.  Nantucket scored on their first three which left the Bulldogs with a must score to keep this one alive.  Sr. midfielder Nate Houston stepped up to the spot and blasted a hard shot to Brown's right.  Brown guessed right, made the save and was immediately stormed by his mates for the celebration.

ORR ended the season with a 15-3-2 record.   This was a tough loss for the boys who played good enough to win, but it wasn't to be.

Great year Bulldogs and feel good that even though this part of life is over you can always know that

Bulldogs Earn 2-1 Golden Goal Win Over Cohasset

"I'm calling the half after this play" the referee said as he passed the ORR bench. In "this play" Jon Zucco sent a hard line drive corner kick that found the head of Nate Houston for the game winner at the end of the first overtime.

Cohasset opened the scoring in the 28th minute on an innocent looking cross that keeper Matt Beatty had lined up for an easy grab. He took one step stumbled and fell backwards into his goal and watched helplessly as the soft cross sailed over his head.

Both teams played good defense and neither was able to control the midfield to mount any sustained attacks. The Bulldogs had their backs against the wall a few times during the regular season and they learned how to overcome that. They know how to manage a game and that paid off this evening.

Early in the second half, ORR was awarded a direct kick from 20 yards. Jon Zucco faked a shot left that got Cohasset's defensive wall to follow him. He touched the ball right and Matt Teefy took care of business firing a low liner into the back of the net for the equalizer.

The teams played even for the rest of regulation with neither able to solve the others defense. Overtime was a different story. The Reds came alive and went for the win from the opening whistle. They picked up the speed of the game and worked hard to keep the ball in Cohassets end. With time running out, Nick Cohelo took a pass from Noah Filloramo and worked his magic on the left side. Nick worked extremely hard to keep possession and broke free for a shot at goal that was blocked giving ORR it's fourth corner of the day.

"I'm calling the half after this play".
